Luke’s Newport Academy Testimony

I’m giving my testimony to this, because I feel like I was mistreated in many different ways at Newport Academy. My time there was tumultuous because I experienced abuse by other clients of the facility and emotional abuse by the counselor and staff. I was repeatedly physically assaulted by other clients, and felt unsafe my entire time there. I would not wish this on anyone that is struggling like me. The largest problem that I felt that occurred was that my specific problems that I dealt with were not addressed, and it was made even worse by the fact that the other people in my group were not having the same issues as me, therefore, and was much harder to talk about specific problems. One of the worst things that I felt that occurred was the constant therapy. Every day, we went through hours of therapy, where they used newer experimental type therapy methods that definitely had a traumatic affect on me. I even went through a very long hunger strike because of a few other people that were repeatedly assaulting me. The other individual eventually became very aggressive and caused thousands of dollars of damage and was transported to the hospital and had charges placed against him. I simply wish that I was treated well and the thousands of dollars a day for the treatment was put to good use . This was Newport Academy in North Tustin, California.
