Anonymous’ The High Frontier Testimony

2012-2013

At the High Frontier, I experienced physical and emotional abuse. When I turned 18 and tried to leave the facility, staff tackled me and I broke my ankle. They then restrained me in a van and placed me into an isolation room with no bed, pillows, or any basic necessities for five days. Despite my parents being lied to by a therapist about the events, I was kept there against my will for an additional four months, not able to walk for a month and requested a doctor see me as I received no medical treatment what so ever besides the group I was with having to have two residents help me walk instead of simply giving me crutches. I was not at this facility for any legal issues nor was I a danger to self or others. As a survivor of this traumatic experience, I want to share my story, report this incident, and help in any way possible to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. I appreciate beyond belief to find out there are “whistleblowers”sounding the alarm on a problem I thought was isolated and rarely happened like what happened to me.
