Anonymous’ Kansas City Girls Academy Testimony

2021-2022

I was sent to this program after asking for help, I was really struggling mentaly an d thought it was like a hospital. I was told I was going to get help. Instead I just got trauma. I am bisexual and transgender and I was sent there by my parents because they believe that is wrong. I thought I was going to get mental help. One of the most traumatic things was dorm switches, if they noticed you and some one getting close they would make it to where you and that person could be in any kind of contact. We had PDRs (personal development reports), work hours, workbooks and loss of privileges. I almost died from the way that they handle medical issues. I have asthma and I got COVID three times and only once they took me to the doctor. I passed out multiple times from the amount of coughing. And the place was far from clean. They also broke confidentiality multiple times.
